Fioricet and Esgic is made from a combination of butalbital (a barbiturate, 50 mg), acetaminophen (325 mg), and caffeine (40 mg). They are indicated for the treatment of tension headaches and muscle contraction headaches. Although not indicated, they are commonly used to treat migraines and other pain related ailments. Note that Fioricet (and some other pain medications) are implicated as causing repeat headaches with over-use. Fioricet contains a combination of acetaminophen, butalbital, and caffeine. Acetaminophen is a pain reliever and fever reducer. Butalbital is in a group of drugs called barbiturates. It relaxes muscle contractions involved in a tension headache.Caffeine is a central nervous system stimulant. It relaxes muscle contractions in blood vessels to improve blood flow.Fioricet is used to treat tension headaches that are caused by muscle contractions.
Severe or chronic tension headaches can take over your work and family life!
A study by the American Headache Society shows that 70% of chronic headache sufferers have significant problems with daily functioning because of the headaches.
Migraine sufferers have symptoms in addition to headache; they may spend days each month in a darkened room because the pain and light-sensitivity are unbearable otherwise.
Medical researchers do not have any particularly cure or cause for migraine until today. However, a number of remedies have been discovered to ease the pain and stop patient’s dilemma of having to drop their works when the pain attacks.
Fioricet is one of the drugs that researchers have developed to manage headaches. It is available online through drugstoretm.com and has been found to be effective for tension headaches. While studies haven’t shown it to be effective for migraine sufferers overall, some people with migraines seem to find it helpful as well.
Fioricet gets its effect from three different ingredients that attack different “parts” of your headache, just like a good laundry detergent has different ingredients to tackle grease, odors, and dirt.
Fioricet has three parts, namely butalbital, acetaminophen and caffeine.
Butalbital is a barbiturate and like other barbiturates, it has a relaxing effect. Acetominophen is a drug that may be recognized as the active ingredient in Tylenol. It can help with pain relief especially when combined with a relaxant.
Caffeine gives you the “buzz” that you may feel after drinking tea, coffee, or colas, or eating chocolate. Caffeine helps to reduce blood flow to the brain.
For frequent headache sufferers, anything that might help them get back on their feet sounds like a heaven-sent. But there a couple of considerations before one can take in any drug.
Warning is always issued to everyone intending to take in any medication – consult your doctor first!
Everyone knows what it is like to experience a headache because approximately 90% of Americans suffer from this condition each year. Tension headaches are the most common type, forcing millions of people to miss work, activities and family time. This painful condition affects both men and women, and can often occur frequently.
The modern world is hectic and the overwhelming demands of life manifest themselves as stress in the body. Stress is believed to be the number one factor for causing tension headaches. Reduction in stress is reported to help reduce the occurrences, and many treatments are available to help manage pain and discomfort found with headaches. Of the medical options that can be found for pain management, the prescription drug Fioricet has shown great results.
Fioricet is a combination of three drugs. It consists of butalbital, acetaminophen and caffeine. These three drugs form a winning combination in providing headache relief. Their special characteristics compliment each other, allowing them to work together to provide quick and effective relief.
Butalbital is a sedative found in Fioricet that helps in relaxation. Muscle tension greatly contributes to tension headaches, and the relaxing properties of butalbital help relax muscle contractions.
Acetaminophen is a well known pain reliever and fever reducer. It relieves pain by increasing the pain threshold in the person taking the medicine. It is one of the most commonly used pain relievers in the world.
The third component of Fioricet is caffeine. Caffeine relaxes muscle contractions in blood vessels, allowing for improvement in blood flow. This helps the other drugs to move into the system faster.
Caffeine and acetaminophen are two drugs that most people are pretty familiar with. The sedative, butalbital, is a barbiturate and the reason that Fioricet is a prescription drug. Fioricet has proven effective in the relief of tension headaches, but it should be taken seriously. The sedative properties can cause drowsiness, and special care should be taken if operating motor vehicles while taking Fioricet. Like with all medications, directions should be followed and it should only be used as intended.
When used properly, Fioricet has shown to alleviate the pain and discomfort felt with tension headaches. The combination of butalbital, acetaminophen and caffeine provides quick and effective relief. Headaches can be debilitating and cause some people to be bedridden for the duration, but with the help of Fioricet, many people are able to prevent these incapacitating events and find relief.
